Valencia captain Dani Parejo has extended his contract at Mestalla until June 30, 2022.

The midfielder joined Valencia from Getafe in 2011, quickly establishing himself as a key figure, and continued his fine form this season with his sixth LaLiga goal of the campaign in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Barcelona.

The club confirmed the length of his contract renewal on Monday and the new buyout clause, set at €50million.

Parejo said: In all these years at Valencia, I ve grown as a person. Now I m a proud family man, father to two Valencian children who are, of course, Valencia fans.

I can tell them with pride that I m captain of a club with 100 years of history and that I work hard every day to wear the armband and to continue to form part of this club.

Luis Garcia hopes Diego Simeone can win another trophy before he leaves Atletico Madrid as he praised the Argentinian s decision to put a timeline on his future at the club.

June 2018 is when Simeone s contract as head coach expires at Atletico after he negotiated a reduction in the length of his deal following the 2015-16 Champions League final loss to Real Madrid.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, crowds had not been allowed at professional matches across Britain since football returned in June until Cambridge United were able to facilitate spectators last week.

Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne said he wants to remain at the Premier League giants as he provided an update on his contract situation.

De Bruyne s future has been the topic of discussion, with City looking to re-sign the Belgium international midfielder to a new five-year deal.

According to a recent report from Corriere dello Sport, Roma sporting director Gianluca Petrachi has let Chris Smalling’s agent know that they are planning on increasing their offer to sign him from Manchester United to around €18 million, which comes alongside the €3 million loan fee that they have already paid.

Neymar joined PSG from Barcelona in a world-record € 222million deal in 2017, but he has been repeatedly linked with a return to his former club or LaLiga champions Real Madrid.

Thomas Frank admitted Ivan Toney made mistakes but questioned the Football Association’s decision to ban him from training for four months as part of his suspension for betting rule breaches.

Toney pleaded guilty to 232 breaches of the FA’s betting rules and has been banned from football for eight months and is not allowed to train with Brentford until half of the term has been served on September 17.
