Diarra agrees to Galatasaray terms

Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra has agreed personal terms with Galatasaray, according to a report.

The France midfielder has been strongly linked with football away from the Santiago Bernabeu after falling out of favour with manager Jose Mourinho.

Fenerbahce have been suggested as Diarra s likeliest destination, but fresh speculation as reported by AS suggests that the midfielder has reached an agreement with Galatasaray after a meeting between the club and his brother.

It is reported that the 27-year-old is ready to sign a 5.5 million euros-a-year contact, a considerable improvement from his current annual salary of four million.

Galatasaray must now open talks with Real Madrid regarding the midfielder s transfer, with the Turkish club ready to of…

Solskjaer: Man Utd are scoring a lot of goals

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is satisfied with Manchester United s attacking efforts despite another frustrating outing in front of goal at Old Trafford.

United and Manchester City shared a dour 0-0 draw in Saturday s derby, where neither side did much to quicken the pulse.

Nevertheless, Solskjaer praised his players character after they put last week s sapping Champions League exit at RB Leipzig behind them.

United have now gone five consecutive home games without scoring from open play in the Premier League, but their manager feels it is helpful to look at a bigger picture of more free-scoring performances on the road and in European fixtures.

If you compare our goal tally from last season to now, we re way ahead in terms of the amount of games t…

Naked Icardi photos no issue for Inter boss Spalletti

Icardi was stripped of the captaincy earlier this season as the club took a strong stance in the wake of a dispute between the hierarchy, the player and Nara before he returned to the fold following a two-month absence.

The 2017-18 campaign saw Icardi rattle in 29 Serie A goals to finish as the division s joint-leading scorer, but this term he has managed just 10 from his 25 appearances.

And Spalletti believes the Argentina international has suffered as a result of his fractured relationship with the club, but insists there are no lingering issues between them as individuals.

A few things have happened that may have limited him, Spalletti added.  What is special about him is the balance. A footballer who has a well-established depth of behaviour and way of do…

Arsenal´s Smith Rowe scores bizarre goal against Man Utd with De Gea down injured

Emile Smith Rowe gave Arsenal the lead against Manchester United in bizarre circumstances in Thursday s Premier League contest, firing home with goalkeeper David de Gea down injured.

United shot-stopper De Gea was caught by team-mate Fred during an Arsenal corner and went down clutching his foot.

Harry Maguire headed the set-piece as far as Mohamed Elneny, who helped the ball into the path of Smith Rowe to half-volley past a still grounded De Gea from 20 yards.

After some initial confusion over whether the goal would be allowed to stand, referee Martin Atkinson pointed to the centre-circle to signal the start of Arsenal s celebrations.

United players were furious and caretaker boss Michael Carrick looked bemused on the touchline as opposite number Mikel A…

Champions League draw: Messi´s PSG to face Man City, Man Utd eye Villarreal revenge

Pep Guardiola and Lionel Messi will go up against each other in the Champions League after Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain were drawn into the same group.

Messi and Guardiola enjoyed a close relationship during their time together at Barcelona, but for the first time they will meet with neither of them representing the Catalans.

Six-time Ballon d Or winner Messi left Barca at the end of June when his contract expired, and while he was expected to sign on with them again, the Blaugrana s hands were tied due to financial restrictions.

As such, Messi was swiftly snapped up by PSG despite previous links with City and a potential Guardiola reunion.

Another narrative could yet enter the conversation with respect to City versus PSG, as Juventus forward C…

Manchester United 1-1 Burnley: Late Amdouni penalty earns Burnley deserved point at Old Trafford

Burnley boosted their Premier League survival hopes after holding Manchester United to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.

Zeki Amdouni’s calm late penalty moved Burnley within two points of safety with three games remaining.

All the Clarets’ hard work appeared to be in vain when Antony broke the deadlock, but they responded well to ensure a hard-earned share of the spoils.

Burnley remain 19th but are now two points behind 17th-place Nottingham Forest, who host Manchester City on Sunday, while United stay sixth.

Although David Datro Fofana shot straight at Andre Onana inside the opening 30 seconds, United soon established their authority on proceedings with Christian Eriksen curling just wide and Fernandes rattling Arijanet Muric’s right post as they threat…

Spiders of greater concern to Tyler Adams than facing England

The United States are not intimidated by a World Cup meeting with England, but then Tyler Adams insists he is not intimidated by anything – except spiders.

USA on Friday face an England team full of confidence after their biggest win in a major tournament opener against Iran.

However, a repeat of that 6-2 success seems unlikely against their next opponents, who are unbeaten in two World Cup matches against the Three Lions.

And USMNT captain Adams spoke a good game on the eve of the match at Al Bayt Stadium, approaching the encounter with a positive attitude.

England s still a big team at the end of the day, he said. But intimidation factor? I wouldn t say there s many things out there that intimidate me, other than spiders.

It s fine for me to…

Mainz sign Ivan Klasnic

Bundesliga side Mainz have announced that they have signed striker Ivan Klasnic on a free transfer.

The Croatian had been a free agent since leaving Bolton in June, and he was linked with Deportivo La Coruna and Liverpool earlier this week.

However, it was Mainz who won the race for the player’s signature, announcing they had signed the player on a one-year deal.

Club’s general manager Christian Heidel admitted Klasnic was not their first choice target.

“He was always our plan B,” Heidel told club’s official website. “After the transfer of Adrian Ramos failed to materialise, we wanted to get this one wrapped up as quickly as possible.

“We were looking for an experienced player who knows the Bundesliga to go with our young attack. Th…

Bundesliga wrap: Wolfsburg revival continues

Wolfsburg continued their Bundesliga resurgence by toppling Hoffenheim 3-1, while Werder Bremen overcame strugglers Fortuna Duesseldorf.

Goals from Makoto Hasebe, Bas Dost and Naldo handed the visitors their third win in four games on Sunday.

Wolfsburg had won only one game in eight outings, which included five defeats, under the guidance of former coach Felix Magath but since his departure, the 2008/09 champions have lost just once.

It was the visiting side who came out of the blocks quickest, with a smart Hasebe finish giving them the lead after just seven minutes.

Hoffenheim were dealt a critical blow soon after when Dutch striker Dost grabbed his fifth goal of the season in the 24th minute.

Wolfsburg pressed more and more, and Matthieu Delpi…

Sherwood keen on Berbatov

Aston Villa have been linked with a move for former Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov, .

The thirty-four year old is currently without a club since leaving Monaco at the end of the season, after eighteen months with the Ligue One side.

Prior to his move to France, the former Bulgaria international spent eight and half seasons in England in spells with Tottenham Hotspur, United and Fulham racking up two-hundred and twenty-nine Premier League appearances in total, scoring ninety-four goals.

Twenty of those strikes came in the 2010/11 campaign with the Red Devils, and that tally saw him as the division’s top scorer that year along with then teammate Carlos Tevez.

During his time at Old Trafford, he won two league titles and the League Cup, w…
