Juventus still keen on Martial

Sky Sports understands that Juventus are still in pursuit of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial.

The Serie A Champions remain keen on bringing in the France international despite talks of the Red Devils lining up a new lucrative contract for the player.

Martial started less than half of United’s league games in each of the last two full seasons while this term he has played just one hour of football after being subbed off in last month’s 3-2 defeat at Brighton and Hove Albion.

Since signing from Monaco in the summer of 2015 he has racked up a total of one hundred and thirty-seven appearances in all competitions, scoring a total of thirty-six goals – the last of which coming in a 1-0 win over Burnley back in January.

Prediction: Nice vs Lazio

Verdict: Lazio Draw no bet

Best Odds:

Bookmaker:

The top of the table clash in Group K of the Europa League will see out-of-form Nice take on high-flying Lazio, who head into the game on the back of an impressive victory over Juventus in Turin. Les Aiglons, on the other hand, need to try and make amends for two successive Ligue 1 defeats and in doing so edge closer to the first position in the group.

Nice may have failed to reach the Champions League group stages after a third-place finish in Ligue 1 last term, but said exit gave them an opportunity to enjoy a longer campaign in Europa League. So far has been so good, as les Aiglons recorded two comfortable wins over Vitesse and Zulte-Waregem, and everything suggests they will be vying Lazio for the fi…

Ajax ´doing everything´ for Blind

Ajax coach Erik Ten Hag says the Dutch club is doing everything to try and sign Manchester United s Daley Blind, citing the defender s versatility as a potential asset to his squad.

Blind moved to Old Trafford from Ajax in September 2014 and enjoyed three seasons as a regular first-team player before finding his opportunities in Jose Mourinho s side limited in 2017-18.

Ten Hag was quoted by Sky Sports News claiming he was confident of adding either Blind or Boca Juniors defender Lisandro Magallan to his options for the new season.

Describing Blind, Ten Hag said: [He is] a player with a lot of experience, in the Premier League and in the Dutch national team.

Tottenham 5-0 Red Star Belgrade: Kane and Son doubles ease pressure on Pochettino

Harry Kane and Son Heung-min scored doubles to ease the pressure on Mauricio Pochettino and kick-start Tottenham s Champions League campaign with a comprehensive 5-0 win over Red Star Belgrade.

Spurs have endured a difficult start to the season, with just one win in their previous seven games including a 7-2 European defeat to Bayern Munich leading to speculation that Pochettino s position could be under threat.

His side made light work of accommodating opponents on Tuesday, though, as goals from Kane and Son inside the opening 16 minutes gave them the platform for a first Champions League win of the season.

Son added a third in the 44th minute before Erik Lamela and Kane scored in the second half to help Spurs move up to second in Group B, five points behind Ba…

Pioli calls on Milan to ´turn into winners´ ahead of decisive Inter and Napoli clashes

Stefano Pioli called for Milan to turn into winners and battle through an underwhelming run of form ahead of crucial clashes with Inter and Napoli.

The Rossoneri sit level on points with Serie A leaders Napoli, who required a last-gasp winner against Lazio on Sunday, after being held in consecutive games by strugglers Salernitana and Udinese.

Pioli s side are two points ahead of Inter, who they face in the first leg of their Coppa Italia semi-final tie on Tuesday, but the Nerazzurri boast a game in hand on both their fellow title contenders.

Ahead of what is likely to be a pivotal week, Pioli demanded improvements from his team, though he insisted Milan can only focus on the future from now on.

It s only the first leg, but it s an important step. The hel…

Ramos ´expected to miss three Real Madrid games´ with hamstring injury

Sergio Ramos is expected to miss at least three games for Real Madrid after the club confirmed he has suffered a hamstring strain.

While Madrid did not specify how long they will be without their captain, reports in the Spanish media claimed he will not be available again in November.

Zinedine Zidane s side are due to face Villarreal in LaLiga on Saturday, with a clash against Deportivo Alaves following a Champions League trip to Inter on Wednesday.

Ramos was forced off with the injury in the first half of Spain s 6-0 triumph over Germany in the Nations League on Tuesday.

A Madrid statement released on Thursday read: After the tests carried out today on Sergio Ramos by the Real Madrid medical department, the player has been diagnosed with a strained hamst…

De Ligt had goosebumps when Eriksen made Denmark return

Matthijs de Ligt said he got goosebumps when Christian Eriksen took to the pitch during Saturday s friendly between the Netherlands and Denmark.

Eriksen had not played for his country since suffering a cardiac arrest on the pitch in Copenhagen during Euro 2020 last year.

Yet the former Tottenham and Inter playmaker, who is now back in action with Brentford, returned after a 287-day absence and scored with his very first touch just 114 seconds after coming on as a substitute.

Eriksen, fittingly playing at the stadium where he made his name for Ajax, almost netted a second when a long-range shot hit the woodwork but, with his goal having reduced the arrears to 3-2, it was the hosts who went on to edge out a thrilling contest 4-2 at the Johan Cruijff ArenA.

Southgate challenges England to keep breaking barriers

Gareth Southgate challenged his England players to keep making history ahead of their Euro 2020 semi-final against Denmark.

Southgate s men are aiming to win a first major honour for 55 years but have consistently breached new ground of late.

The last-16 win over Germany was the first time they had beaten a country with a world title to their name in a knockout fixture since the 1966 World Cup final.

A 4-0 quarter-final thrashing of Ukraine made it consecutive semi-finals on the back of the run Southgate masterminded at Russia 2018 – the first time England have accomplished that since going close in the 1968 European Championship.

Nevertheless, that five-and-a-half-decade drought is the one statistic that continues to loom, but one from which the manage…
